Charles Elbert Finley, 80, of Sasser, died at his residence on Saturday, March 17, 2012 after a lengthy illness. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, March 20, at Harvey Funeral Chapel, with interment to follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Dawson.

Charles was born on April 19, 1931 in Yancey, Kentucky, son of the late James Paris Finley and the late Maggie May Davenport Finley. He was a retired Chief Warrant Officer with the U.S. Army, with more than 21 years of service, and a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam Wars.

Mr. Finley moved to Albany in 1960 and was a resident until he retired and moved to Sasser in 1996. He owned and operated Radium Springs Texaco Station from 1970 until 1980. He was most remembered and well known as owner and manager of Han's Restaurant in Radium Springs from 1978 until 1992.

Survivors include his wife, Anna "Han" Finley of Sasser; five children, Heinz Finley (Gail) of Leesburg, Elisabeth Hughes (Robby) of Snellville, Ellen Dierkes (Michael) of Canton, Cindy Salter (Don) of Dawson, and Chuck Finley of Leesburg; seven brothers and sisters, Marvin Finley, Jewell Jackson, George Finley, Ann Elton, Bruce Finley, Martha Myers, and Lynn Finley, all of the Ocala, Florida area; 15 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the residence, 214 Main Street, Sasser, Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M.
